biophilic ambisonics

A system combining multiple RAVE models and synthesis techniques to generate naturalistic ambisonic soundscapes — a 16.1 installation exploring the restorative potential of biophilic auditory environments.

approach

The project asks whether the restorative quality of natural environments can be carried by sound alone — and whether a soundscape can be generated rather than merely played back. Multiple RAVE generative models and synthesis techniques produce naturalistic textures, encoded and decoded across a multichannel ambisonic field. The work was installed as a 16.1 system.
